Are you curious to see how the insane lived in the 16th century? Are you interested in psychiatry through the ages? Are you yourself even normal? Get tangled in the miracles of the psyche of us humans and experience the thin line between normal and insane at the Dolhuys!
On the 2nd of May the Study Broadening and Career Committee is organizing a field trip to the Dolhuys. The Dolhuys is the museum of the mind, which is situated in Haarlem. What once started as a leprosarium, was rebuild in the 16th century as a mental institution, a place to harbour the insane. Nowadays it is a museum that shows this rich history and challenges its visitors to think and experience the world of psychiatry. We’ll be entering the human mind at the Dolhuys and we hope to see you there!

The program is as follows:

13:15 We meet at Leiden central
13:55 We gather at the station in Haarlem
14:15 The tours of the Dolhuys start
15:15 Free time to see the Dolhuys
16:00 Picknick

The field trip is for members only and costs €3,50! Don’t forget to indicate whether you’ll be travelling with us from Leiden or whether you’ll meet us at the station in Haarlem. For more information: or follow our Facebook event!

We hope to see you then!
